First we blew a tire on the camper and luckily made it to a gas station. When it blew it took off the entire wheel well cover and looked pretty gnarly. Took us a while to figure out how to change it since the camper is new to us and weighs somewhere around 10,000 lbs. we didn't have a jack and it wasn't easy to find one that would work. Someone who stopped at the gas station recommended we call a place right down the road that built custom cars so a nice person there ran up to help. His jack was certainly heavy duty but would go up high enough. So after trying to build up the jack we went to plan #2 and put a brick between the jack and the camper. When that broke into pieces we then went to plan #3 which was put a log we had brought for the fire under the jack. When that still wasn't high enough Mike had a plan 4 to use the leveler a to raise one tire and then the jack for the other. Luckily that worked and after 2.5 hours we were back on the road! Thanks so much to kind strangers, talented car people, and sweet friends.
At the last minute we changed campgrounds so we didn't have to go as far on the spare tire. The kids were thrilled to go back to a favorite - Jellystone. After a slight mix up in campsites we were finally there and fixed dinner at 9:30. The next day we spent the day playing putt putt, swimming, riding the water slide, playing tether ball, meeting new friends, going to a dance party, and having fun. Mike did end up falling and hurting his backside while taking Emmy down the water slide and Eli ended up with a bloody nose when playing in the pool but everyone was happy. On Sunday we got a nice nature walk in and then packed up and headed home on an uneventful journey.
Hoping our next camping trip will be just as fun with less "events"!!
