Had a great weekend with sleepovers, football games, rain, rain, and finally some friends time on Sunday evening for dinner club. After the weekend we decided that all the boys (including Mike) needed haircuts. Landon wanted a really short cut so we buzzed all of them the same length. During the process we told Landon we may stick with the mohawk and this was his expression!

Thanks to the Hunts for hosting dinner club. The kids had a great time riding bikes, playing football, eating, and enjoying friends. They are already asking when the next one will be.

Outside of all of that, school is going well for everyone. Eli is still all about trains, Ella about drawing, and Landon about Mario Kart!

Over the weekend, Landon and Ella stayed with Nannie and Pops. On Friday night Landon went to bed with all of his teeth but noticed a gap between his teeth in the morning. He made comment of it to Nannie and Pops but until he decided to eat an apple did he realize that it was gone. It's the first tooth he has lost and he was very excited. They could never find the tooth but the toothfairy still made it to Nannie and Pops and left 2 quarters. As soon as Landon woke up and found his money he ran downstairs and gave one of his quarters to Ella. He has a giving heart which is really sweet, however, Ella knows it and doesn't mind asking either :-)

Last weekend we had so much fun in Boone. The kids played in the river a lot and enjoyed throwing rocks, climbing rocks, getting wet and just exploring. Each time we went they got as dirty and wet as possible. It's not that expected them not to but it was amazing at how quickly they got wet. Landon wasn't really excited about how cold the water was but it didn't seem to affect Ella or Eli. We also went on a little hike up near the cabin and walked until the path grew over. Right at that point there was a turtle in the middle of the path. Landon and Ella were excited to see their first "wild turtle". They said it was their first but they have seen others at but never this close. We let them hold it and then we set it back on the path and headed back.

On Saturday and Sunday we headed to Tweetsie Railroad. Saturday was just a taste but in the 2 hours we were there we made the most of it. We all road the steam engine together first. Eli was psyched about the "choo choo train" until we made our stop to see the Indians and the Cowboy show. There were lots of guns which scared Ella but Eli didn't get scared until they pulled out the big shotgun that was extremely loud. So we settled on just looking at the train on Sunday. With a very low crowd we were able to fit a lot of other rides in as well. Landon rode the tilt-a-whirl 16 times in a row. Mike rode the first time but had enough after that. Landon rode with whoever had room until he met a little buddy who rode it with him the next 10 times or so. After we left Landon said his stomach didn't feel great - wonder why????? Ella and Eli enjoyed the chair lifts, boats and the merry-go-round. One of Eli's favorites, which we didn't even get a picture of, was him feeding the goats and deer. He loved to feed them and wasn't afraid of them biting or taking his cone out of his hand.

We were all exhausted on the way home. We were thankful for the beautiful weather and having so much fun together. Ella is already asking to go back, but luckily the fair will be in town soon!!

Last weekend we made an unexpected trip to Boone for a nice little vacation. We stayed in a cabin on a river and made a trek to Tweetsie Railroad. We all had a lot of fun and would have loved to been able to stay longer. Tonight I will post the video of Ella singing about her "shiny rocks" that she found and then will plan on posting tomorrow more about the weekend along with some pictures. Ella is a collector of everything. She collects grass, leaves, berries, flowers, paper strips, stickers, pretty much anything imaginable. She has loved the times when she has been able to go to a "gem mine" and hunt for gems so while we were at the river she was especially fond of finding any rocks that were shiny. Luckily we talked her into leaving them there or we may have had to leave with buckets full but here is the song that Mike captured after a morning of finding rocks. She also loves to make up songs. She will sing about anything and puts it to tunes of her own or tunes of other songs. This one is partly to the tune of a Thomas the Tank Engine song and partly to her own tune. Enjoy the song!!!

I never posted about Landon, Ella, and Eli's first day of school. Landon started school on Aug. 31st and was excited but it didn't have the impact that most have on their first day of school. He is in 1st grade or thereabouts. He did have to get up a little earlier and had more to do to get ready than in the summer. However, he didn't get on the bus, ride in the van or even walk to school. He stayed in his den and kitchen and started with the pledge and ended with lunch. Ella was very eager to "do school" as well so she cracked open some books and also learned about nomads. We had a lot of fun and of course Landon's favorite already is math. Later that week Ella and Eli went to their morning preschool for the first time. Ella was very excited about class and being at a new school. The most exciting thing was her pink backpack and her new art supplies (crayons and markers) that she got to carry in her backpack. Eli was a fan of his backpack until he realized I was leaving. They both had a good day. Eli is still getting used to the idea and seems to cry every time he sees the building but Ella is enjoying every minute. I do find that she was very tired after the first couple of days. Her favorite part of the day is art time where Eli's is probably snack time :-).

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY LANDON!!!!!!!!!!

What a day, what a day. Landon had such a big birthday, I think he will need the holiday on Monday just to recover. He started the day off with a trip to Krispy Kreme to get his favorite sweet treat. Lucky for him they are serving the football doughnuts again so he had one with a candle first thing. Later it was on to putt putt where he played two rounds, used up 40 tokens and rode the bumper boats and soaked Dad to the bone. Back for pizza and cake with his friends and right after they left he went to the Wake Forest football game with Dad. So he was really worn out at the end of the day and I am sure will sleep hard tonight.

Ella enjoyed Landon's birthday as well as she is a big putt putt fan nowadays. She also loves using the tokens to get tickets to "collect" things. I know we all need a few more 10 cent trinkets around but they sure make her happy to pick them out. Eli was completely overwhelmed by all the action. His favorite parts were putting the ball in after setting his ball 2 inches from the hole, riding in the bumper boat with Mike, and most of all putting tokens into the slots. If they had a game where you could just get a bunch of tokens to drop in (other than mom paying for them) then he would be thrilled.

We did have a Joyce birthday celebration for Sam's, Barry's, Landon's, and Jay's birthday last weekend but Landon was sick that day and didn't get to even eat a bite of cake. He made up for it today with his 2 doughnut breakfast, pizza and chocolate cake for lunch, popcorn at the game and then McDonalds for dinner with Dad. Probably not his most nutritional day but hey, it's your birthday, it's your birthday!
